The Charles W. Morgan at Colonel Green's Estate "Round Hill" in Dartmouth.
On November 8, 1941, the last whale ship, the Charles W. Morgan was donated to Mystic Seaport by Colonel Greene's sister and heir.
It was due to the lack of financial support from the short sighted city of New Bedford who had been offered the ship first.
The ship had been enshrined at
Colonel Green's Estate at Round Hill.
In 1936 he had already passed away.
The Charles W. Morgan was the only American whale ship to have survived from the whaling era.
Usually, the ship can be boarded and seen at Mystic Seaport. There are other images of the ship on this site. Click the image to enlarge it.
