The Whaling City Festival - Held at Buttonwood Park and attracts people from many surrounding cities.
Runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9AM - 8PM in July.
They have a large line up of live entertainment, a car show, a traveling amusement park and a lot of vendors booths with food and t-shirts and a huge variety of items on sale. Contacts for the festival.

Summerfest
The Standard-Times sponsors the Standard Times Greater New Bedford Summerfest each year. It has become a tradition for it's presentation of international folk music and arts..
Each year it takes place in the beginning of July at locations throughout the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.
There are activities and fun things to do and see for the whole family.
The area in general and food booths and craft booths are open to the public but wrist bands are required for the entertainment locations. |

Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 3 — Steamship Pier
.The
2010 Festival dates are September 25th and 26th. There are live musical performances.
New Bedford, Ma. is America's largest commercial fishing port.
Visit the festival to learn about the men and women who harvest the North Atlantic.
There you can see a Coast Guard rescue demonstration, visit aboard a scallop boat, eat fresh seafood, see gear repair demonstrations and much more.

New Bedford Chowder Festival
Running since 2005 this festival is held at Custom House Square in the historic section of Downtown New Bedford.
It is organized by, Downtown New Bedford, Inc..
You can enjoy lot's of clam chowder, seafood chowder, stuffed quahogs and kale soup cooked by local restaurants. There is always music and family fun.

New Bedford Day of Portugal Festival
June 10th, a national holiday in Portugal is the Day of Portugal, Camoes and the Portuguese Communities. This worldwide event is celebrated commemorating the life of Luis Vaz de Camoes—Portugal’s greatest poet. It also recognizes the valuable contributions of the many other Portuguese Communities worldwide. It has been celebrated for the past 11 yeas in New Bedford's North
End over a 3 day weekend around the date of June 10. |

New Bedford Festival Theater at the Zeiterion
Do you like Broadway musicals? This is it for the finest in musical theatre production in Southeastern, MA. It's a professional, non-profit performing arts organization dedicated to producing a variety of musical theater from classics to contemporary with local and national talent.
The production values are high. The group had won the NETC Moss Hart Award for Best Theatrical Production in New England for "Les Miserables", in 2008. The Festival Theater is sponsored in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Freedom Festival at UMASS Dartmouth
An annual fireworks demonstration and music - The Bank of America Freedom Festival schedules a celebration of our independence on or around the 4th of July on the UMass Dartmouth campus.
In 2009, the festival planned to open at 6:15 p.m. with a concert by a well known group. Later the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra pops concert was at 7:45 p.m. and concluding with fireworks at approximately 9:15 p.m.
In advance they had posted a notice that, In the event of rain, the orchestra will perform in the 800-seat main auditorium at the Campus Center, but the fireworks will be cancelled.
We look forward to the festival in coming years.

Maritime heritage Festival
Is held every year in May at the
New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.
The festival is presented by the New Bedford Whaling Museum and celebrates New Bedford's rich sea-going heritage with music, storytelling, tours, and a host of hands-on activities.
The festival is set up throughout The New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park. The festival sites are open to the public on without any cover charge, although the Whaling Museum or other sites might have a concert that requires admission.
See first hand demonstrations of traditional crafts that include boat building, sail making, knot work, figurehead carving, scrimshander, and blacksmithing. For more info contact the Old Dartmouth Historical Society,
