Ursula M.Norton - Scallop Boat Trip 1951

Thanks to David Rasmussen for posting this video

The Ursula M. Norton was a scallop boat out of New Bedford, MA owned Bernhard Rasmussen and Ike Norton. This 1951 compilation documents the activity of a typical fishing trip.

David Rasmussen currently of Santa Barbera, CA. writes:
This is an 11-minute film that my grandfather Bernhard Rasmussen took of his fishing boat the Ursula M. Norton. It was a scallop boat out of New Bedford that he co-owned with Ike Norton. The film was taken in1951 and I edited it together last year and added sound effects. It documents the activity of a typical fishing trip.

Supplies are delivered by New Bedford Ship Supply Company.
Crushed ice is loaded into the hold.
The ship sails past Fairhaven and out of the pre-hurricane dike harbor.
Scallop drags are tossed over-board and pulled back in.
The catch is collected, shucked, and stored in the hold.
All crew goes inside due to heavy seas.

Please send the names of any of the crew that you can identify to. david.rasmussen@yahoo.com
