Exercise Tiger was a military disaster that resulted in 749 American soldiers and sailors losing their lives on April 28th 1944 off of the coast of England in a training exercise.
To memorialize the event, there was a ceremony at the Exercise Tiger Memorial located at Fort Taber in New Bedford.
Due to torrential rains the event was moved indoors.
The US Navy band played, and Mayor Scott Lang attended as well as Normand Chartier and Jayme Rego who together lay the wreath. Many other dignitaries were in attendance as well as family and friends of those who were involved in the disaster.
