1897 Picture of
New Bedford Safe Deposit and Trust
The business was located on the northeast corner of Acushnet Avenue and Willam Streets.
In the last years of the 1900's and into the 21st century the building is occupied by a clothing store (Carter's).
This was across the street from the old post office which was later demolished and made room for a
parking lot and garage.
In the 1990's the garage was torn down and the lot was made into a small park, called Post Office Square.
This business in the photo was almost diagonally across from Lupos Restaurant built in 1897
at
363 Acushnet Avenue.
