This section concerns ordinances in 1860 New Bedford, Ma. for the control of dogs.
Dogs in 1860 had rules to follow or it should be said their masters also had to follow.
Licenses were $1.00 for a male dog and $5.00 for a female. In 1860, New Bedford dogs that were licensed had to wear a collar with the owners name on it.
"Any person may, and any police or constable shall, kill or cause to be destroyed all dogs going at large and not licenced or collared according to the provisions of this act."
